Quote for today on NOT learning the hard way

Preparation through education is less costly than learning through tragedy.
–Max Mayfield, Director of National Hurricane Center.

This quote seems obvious, but how many people can you think of in your life that had to "learn the hard way"?

Of course, some things you don't want to learn the by experience: we learn to look both ways before crossing the street — or else. We don't touch the glowing red part of the stove — or else.

That's the way it is with prepping. Unfortunately, the "or else" isn't always blindingly obvious link in the previous examples.

But, the fact that you're reading this means that you recognize the value of preparedness and self-reliance, and are willing to "learn through education," as Mr. Mayfield said.

Fortunately, we can help! If you haven't already, start with the posts in our Learning About Preparedness topic. This tag will link to a number of our posts which are related to learning about preparedness.

Because we have so many posts in that topic, we also have the three earliest posts with that tag linked separately; those three posts will point you to many free (or very low cost) resources that are excellent for enhancing your preparedness education.

Read, learn, and practice now, so you don't have to learn the hard way in an emergency!
